Incentives - Province of Bolzano Supporting the Energy Transition: New Incentives for Public Administration
The Autonomous Province of Bolzano is strengthening its commitment to renewable energy. In line with the South Tyrol Climate Plan 2040, which aims to install 800 megawatts of photovoltaic capacity by 2037, the Provincial Government has approved new guidelines to incentivize public administrations.
For the first time, contributions are granted for operating expenses, not just for investments, thus promoting projects carried out through operating leasing contracts.
Who can benefit?
The funds are intended for public administrations for the construction of:
Photovoltaic systems on roofs and buildings.
Photovoltaic canopies for parking lots.
This approach allows administrations to exploit unused areas without having to allocate funds for the initial investment. The energy produced can be used for internal consumption, fed into the grid, or contributed to energy communities.
Contribution Details
Systems on buildings: A contribution equal to 30% of eligible expenses is provided. This incentive applies to buildings with a building permit issued before January 1, 2025.
Parking canopies: The contribution increases to 40% of eligible expenses and covers both the photovoltaic system and the support structure.
How and When to Apply
Applications must be submitted to the Office for Energy and Climate Protection before signing the leasing contract.
For this year: The submission deadline is October 1, 2025.
In the coming years: Applications can be submitted from January 1 to June 30, 2026.
"All the contributions we currently grant are aimed at investments, while in this case, contributions for operating expenses are granted for the first time," explains Peter Brunner (Provincial Councillor for Environmental, Nature, and Climate Protection). âThis makes it possible to also promote the construction of systems that use alternative financial tools such as investment funds.â
