REPORT on Solar Energy Production in the European Market

The report on solar energy production on the European continent has been published by Solar Power Europe. The data is reassuring: the number of photovoltaic systems installed in Europe has recorded growth of 47% since 2021, passing from a solar energy production of 28.1 GW to 41.4 GW in 2022. But let’s have a look in detail at the most energy-sustainable European countries:

Germany remains the leading European country for solar energy production just after Spain, with an increase of +55% compared to the previous year. Poland and the Netherlands already had good coverage and their growth is smaller. The situation in France is interesting, as the country has shown a slight decline in solar energy production, which is probably linked to the extreme growth of 2021 (+218% of solar energy production). With some delays, even Italy has shown considerable growth in solar energy production (+174%). These data confirm a growing focus on renewable energy, with concrete growth prospect in energy efficiency systems.

“Saving the planet is cheaper than destroying it.” Oscar Aries. New EU plan boosting the installation of EV chargers. The EU Council and the European Parliament have signed a new plan relating to sustainable goals. This plan includes, by 2026, the installation of at least one 400 kW EV charger every 60 km on the main motorways of the Old Continent.

The plan also envisages an increasing power of charging station up to 600 kW by 2028. Same deadline also for measures concerning heavy vehicles, such as buses and trucks, for which the presence of an EV charger every 120 km has been already planned. Measures also focus on payment methods, which must be simple and non-discriminating. Therefore, it will be possible to pay by credit card and/or QR Code.

The new plan is to be approved by the so-called COREPER, the Committee of the Permanent Representatives of the EU Council, by the so-called TRAN, the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism, and finally by both EU Parliament and Council.
